Jameson Whiskey

Jameson is a unique blended whiskey produced by the Irish distillers subsidiary group of Pernod Ricard. It is originally one of the six main Dublin whiskies at the Jameson distillery. This Irish whiskey was founded by John Jameson, a lawyer from Scotland who then founded this distillery in 1780. By the year 1805, it was passed down to his son John Jameson II. However, it has then been passed down from generation to generation.

In 1901 the company was incorporated as John Jameson and sons Ltd.Byt during the year 1966. John Jameson merged with Cork Distillers and John Powers to form the Irish Distillers group. This led to the opening of the New Middleton Distillery in the year 1976 by Irish Distillers. The French Drinks Conglomerate Pernod Ricard in 1988 bought the Irish Distillery. This made the old Jameson Distillery a museum that offers tours and wine tasting to its visitors.

Jameson is produced from a blend of grand whiskey and single pot whiskey, which is gotten from a mixture of mated and Unaltered green Irish barleys which is gotten from within a fifty-mile radius around the distillery. It is then drained in a close kiln fired by natural gas.

All Jameson products show quality, in particular, the 18 years and its rarest reserved have rated highly at the international spirits rating. The 18 year’s received a series of gold and double gold medals at the San Francisco world spirits competition in the year 2005-2010. The Rarest reserve has won the same medals there as well, it’s rated as one of the top 20 whiskies in the world. In 2018 Jameson’s 18-year-old Irish blend won the best Irish blended whiskey.

• Jameson Black Barrel

Jameson Black Barrel is a triple-distilled, twice-charred Irish Whiskey. Charring is an age-old method for invigorating barrels to intensify the taste. The Jameson Black Barrel is a tribute to the coopers, who painstakingly give the bourbon barrels an additional charring to reveal its untold richness and complexity. This is because every barrel contains secrets; the trick is coaxing them out.

It is made from a high portion of pot whiskey and a small batch of grain whiskey matured in double flame charred American bourbon barrels. It gives notes of nut with spice and vanilla sweetness with rich intense toasted wood and vanilla. Jameson Black Barrel is triple distilled, twice charred, for a rich smooth taste.

• Jameson 18 years Old

The Jameson 18 years Old is made from the pot still whiskey and grain whiskey, then matured in American bourbon barrels and Spanish sherry butts for 18 years. It has a wonderfully mellow and smooth but complex flavour of toffee, spice, vanilla, and hints of wood and leather with gentle sherry nuttiness.

Jameson 18 Years is where time and tradition converge. A unique blend of 3 signature distillates matured in finest oak for almost two decades. The spirit is then given a final marrying period of at least 6 months in a fresh American oak barrel, adding a unique complexity and elegance.

Nose: Aromatic oils with a touch of wood and spicy toffee

Taste: Wonderfully mellow and smooth, a mouthful of complex flavours – toffee, spice, hints of wood and leather, gentle sherry nuttiness, and vanilla.
