About The Name Four Cousins

Four Cousins is the story of the 4 Retief cousins of Van Loveren Family Vineyards in Robertson Valley in the Western Cape. The now well-known four Retief guys joined forces in the mid-’90s. One after the other, they joined the family farm, Van Loveren, and today they’re the driving force behind the company.

The story of the third generation of Retief cousins began in the 1990s when Phillip, Neil, Bussell, and Hennie, joined the family farm, Van Loveren, upon completing their studies.  These are four guys who combined their friendship and talents to make delicious everyday drinking wine for people like them.

In 2000, the four Retief cousins introduced the Four Cousins range of wines, which today, 18 years later, is South Africa’s biggest-selling bottled wine brand.

The natural sweet red wine is Made in South Africa with a fragrant, ruby-red wine made for everyday enjoyment. This exotic wine has a rich, soft rose petal perfume that delights the senses. It’s elegantly endowed with flavours of ripe plums, strawberries, exotic spices, and a soft, lingering finish. This sweet red wine is blended from noble cultivars and grape juice.

It is a masterful blend of 80% Ruby Cabernet and 20% Merlot. 2. FOUR COUSINS SWEET WHITE WINE –

This white wine is a popular South African white sweet still wine mostly taken during special occasions. it is blended from white cultivars and grape juice.

The wine is fragrant & sunshine-colored, with a gentle honey perfume. It bursts with flavours of Luscious apricots, nougat, and rich tropical fruit salad, which all culminate to a soft, lingering finish. You can enjoy this wine as an aperitif, or with spicy oriental foods, fruit, and desserts.
