This innovative collection of handcrafted wines from specific vineyards honors some of the exceptional people who played an integral part in shaping Nederburg’s success story through the centuries.
This enticing wine, made from Chenin blanc grapes, celebrates Nederburg’s founder, Philippus Wolvaart, who established the Nederburg farm in 1791. Various winemaking techniques are used to create this lively, rich, and layered food-friendly wine full of character. A touch of sweetness balances the heat of spicy Asian dishes.
COLOUR: Brilliant with a bright golden hue.
BOUQUET: Reminiscent of ripe fruits, especially apricots, pears, and white peaches with floral hints and traces of spice.
PALATE: Well-balanced, fresh and fruity with an excellent structure.
A Rhône-style blend of Grenache, Carignan and Shiraz that honours the legendary winemaker Günter Brözel, who was cellarmaster at Nederburg from 1956 to 1989. An abundance of sweet spice and berries on the nose is echoed on the palate. Outstanding with roasts, barbecued steaks, spicy chicken, and intensely flavored pasta dishes.
COLOUR: Dark, intense red.
BOUQUET: An abundance of sweet spice, berries, dates, and a hint of tobacco leaf and pepper.
PALATE: A rich and intense, full-bodied wine with ripe and silky tannins. Excellent integration of fruit and wood with a hint of spice.
Nederburg’s core range of varietal and blended wines is an expression of its proud legacy of winemaking excellence, dating back to 1791. These classically styled, food-friendly wines with abundant fruit flavors, elegance, and finesse, treasure the integrity of the grapes in every step of the wine-growing and winemaking journey. Every drop demonstrates an unwavering commitment to world-class vineyard and cellar skills.
Colour: Bright red. Bouquet Rounded, svelte red fruit aromas with black cherries, chocolate, and a hint of spice.
Palate: Black Forest Gateau in a glass! Flavors of cocoa and black cherry, with a creamy texture and a hint of exotic masala spice and peppercorn. Refreshing and velvety.
The grapes were sourced from top-performing vineyards situated in the Darling, Cape Town, and Paarl wine-growing areas. The vines are grown in granite and shale soils, resulting in grapes with higher natural acidity and resulting freshness. Open vineyard canopies bring about greater sunlight penetration of the grape bunches, contributing to a well-balanced acidity, in turn contributing to better tannin structure and fruit expression as well as deeper color intensity
Colour: Crimson red. Bouquet A gentle whiff of coffee bean and fynbos with succulent plum and cherry aromas in the background.
Palate: Packed with plum, black cherry, and a touch of leather. Dried herbs and fynbos follow through to a velvety mouthfeel with a modest tannin grip. Elegantly structured and rewardingly long.
Nederburg has varieties which are one quality a premium wine must offer.
